Automated Reporting for Operators

As an OpEx your job is to keep the ship running smoothly and improve at a high clip. Ideally, you are anticipating issues and addressing surprise challenges with skill, agility, and (above all) speed. The reality? You often feel like the last to know about challenges your teams are facing and you consistently feel like you’re drowning. So what do you do? As a capable self starter, you go to work to get the information you need. You either reach out to your data team or you yourself start exporting data and building out a complex system of spreadsheets. Regardless, you know you’re at least weeks from any kind of distilled information that will enable you to solve your ACTUAL PROBLEMS. Is this really the best way?

Imagine for a moment that you live 10,000 years ago and have a few children to take care of. In order to keep them alive, you have to feed them. To do this, you have to make tools to hunt or forage, build a fire to prepare what you find, and make dinnerware for it to be consumed… Take too long and your imaginary caveman kids have died of hunger. This is comparable to what you are forced to do as an operator today. Why are you having to worry so much about data management if your job is to facilitate solutions when and where they are needed? You need a solution that feeds your hungry children when and where they are hungry. Even better - something that helps you anticipate their hunger.

Today, data management can mean anywhere from 5 to 9 or more separate tools, multiple people to manage them, and lots of time to do the work. Data teams are being asked to be more versatile than ever before. More than ever, we are taking a broad, non-specific approach to specific problems. If we decide we don’t want to do that, the only other option is to do it ourselves as operators with an acute understanding of what we need to accomplish. Both of these solutions require large investments of human, time, and financial capital. The cost is extremely high for the quality of solution we’re rewarded with.

In a recent poll - Intelligent Automation, Analytics, and Workflow management were the three top priorities for OpEx in the US. This speaks directly to the pain that we all have. We need tools that give us the information we need to act tactically in an automated way. When building Cardagraph, we prioritized organization, insight, and automation. We believed that in evaluating any tool, those three characteristics should be a requirement.

As an operator, there is a baseline of information that you need in order to provide solutions to your teams and enable your organization to accelerate towards your goals., Right now, there is clearly too much data work required to reach that baseline. With Cardagraph, you don’t even need to know how to spell the word “data”. Automation is the name of the game and we won’t ask you to reinvent the wheel just so you can do your job. Spend 15 minutes with us and you won’t be disappointed.
